5 Things I Love This Week – 8th May 2017

In this series, I like to post the things I have enjoyed the most this week. It could be an item, a song, a playlist, could be anything.  I publish one every Monday.

1. House Plants

So I’m a little late to the party on this one, I know – but I bought my first succulents last week! Oh my gosh I am loving them so much. I moved into a new flat at the weekend and they have gone straight into the bathroom. They are waxy and have plenty of sunlight so hopefully should survive there. My new room and the living room will be next on the list of plant hot-spots!

2. Vagabond Wines

It was a Bank Holiday last Monday and I went on a visit to Spitalfields market with a friend (and new flatmate), Tom. We were actually looking for plants for the bathroom when it started raining and we needed somewhere to shelter. We found a wine bar called Vagabond Wines. You top up a card and pick your choice of wine from their large selection. I LOVED it here and will be returning! They have a range of priced wines from the ridiculously cheap to the crazy expensive. Tom and I kept it at a middle ground and were very happy with what we chose. The staff in there were incredibly knowledgeable and even swapped one of Tom’s wines for a different one when he didn’t like it.

3. Glenn Miller Record

With a passion for music from a young age, Glenn Miller is one of my all time favourite Jazz musicians. I used to play his music all the time as a kid on my trumpet. Particularly “In The Mood”. So when we were out in Spitalfields Market and I found this record for £1 (yes, £1!), I had to get it. The smooth Jazz on a Sunday afternoon or in the background while you are tidying up is so soothing. Needless to say, I will be returning to that market  stall for more £1 deals!

4. Music For Concentration

I’ve been working quite hard at work but on some very boring tasks….. only temporary but its needed me to really buckle down. On those days, I found putting my headphones in and listening to the Music for Concentration playlist has really helped with getting this stuff out of the way. It’s made of soft piano music and quiet, classical music. One of my favourite artists on there at the moment is Lars Meyer. The song “Sustain” came on and I found I could really appreciate the music at the same time as working. I loved it so much.

5. Japanese Sakura-Cha Tea

Onto my final love of the week, I love tea anyway but this one I keep coming back to because it tastes so damn good! This Japanese tea is made with Cherry Blossoms, which you can smell almost through the packet but it is not overpowering when you drink it. Camden Tea Shop do a fantastic deal in-store where you buy two of their £5 tea packets and get a third for a discounted price. I think for 3, I paid £13. Bargin.

And that’s it for this week. 🙂
