In this series, I like to post the things I have enjoyed the most this week. It could be an item, a song, a playlist, could be anything.  I try to publish one every Monday.

1. ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ – The Globe Theatre

Starting this week off with some real culture today. Did you know, you can see almost any play at the Globe Theatre for £5 if you stand? I didn’t! By chance, I came across this amazing price and decided to head along for a play I have never seen before. If you know me, you know I don’t really do things like this often! I went along and although it was a little uncomfortable standing for 2.5 hours, it was a very funny play and a very nice theatre. The director had adapted the play to be set in 1910’s Mexico. There were bright colours, beautiful songs and hilarious jabs at tourists. Very well put together and I would definitely go back!

2. Karl Jenkins – Royal Festival Hall

Keeping on the theme of culture, this was my Friday night treat. A few months ago, my dad sent me a message telling me he had impulsively bought tickets to see Karl Jenkins – the Armed Man, live at Royal Festival hall and was I free. Obviously, three months in advance, of course I was free! We had an amazing dinner at Azzurro, a place near Waterloo, then rushed in (a little late, sorry Dad!) to our seats. The music was beautifully performed and very moving in parts. There were moments where I could hear the African influences and moments where you could picture the blows of war. A little glimpse of Last Post played during one piece brought the loss of war to the forefront of your mind. And all of a sudden, it was over. It was an amazing evening, too short! Thank you dad for taking me :).

3. University of Dub – Reggae Night

Friday night was not over! Once I had walked a wine-addled dad back to the train station, I hopped on a bus to Kings Cross and met some friends. From there we went to a bar then to Scala for a Reggae dub night. It was a really good night! I massively enjoyed the music and atmosphere. There were two beats at the same time, the reggae and the dub, and watching different people dancing to different beats was a new experience for me. Some slowly swaying from side to side on the reggae, some going crazy for the dub. Brilliant! AND – they served Caribbean food there. I love Jamaican Patties! This night went on until 6am but I couldn’t hack the bass that long so was in bed by 4am!

4. Christmas Market at John Lewis

This weekend brought about an opportunity to go and check out the first Christmas market of the year. I know its a stretch for a market (and for Christmas) but the John Lewis Christmas Market opened last week and I had to go and check it out for inspiration! They had every light and every coloured bauble you can imagine. Christmas is officially on its way. What an amazing time of year this is! 🙂

5. Dishoom

My final love of the week was food related. After going to the Christmas Market, I had worked up a bit of an appetite. Heading over towards Carnaby Street and Kingly Court, I decided to check out Dishoom (bless you). I have heard about this place from multiple friends and Time Out. It was so yummy, and the service was insanely good. When we walked in, they said it could be 45 minutes till we were eating so we headed to the bar to get a cocktail and some infamous Okra fries from the bar. Before they could come, we were shown to our table and our fries came with us! We had a very comprehensive explanation of how the food works (lots of dishes and sharing!), then ordered our food. As I had been told, the food and drinks were amazingly good. The price wasn’t too bad either. I will definitely be returning!
